President Uhuru Kenyatta invited a host of leaders from various political parties to the Jubilee Party’s National Delegates Convention held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Nairobi on Saturday.
The colourful event was attended by various leaders including ODM’s Raila Odinga, Wiper Party’s Kalonzo Musyoka, NARC’s Charity Ngilu KANU’s Gidon Moi, PAA’s Amason Kingi, DAP’s Wafula Wamunyiyi, UDP’s Cyrus Jirongo among other leaders.
Uhuru gave the leaders an opportunity to address the Jubilee delegates, and each one of them emphasised the importance of the country’s unity.
Jirongo thanked Uhuru for actualising his dream of leaving Kenya a united nation.
“I would like to thank His Excellency the President, I see your dream to leave The Republic of Kenya united becoming true because these citizens especially the leaders have their own agenda. Hon. Gideon and I carried fire extinguishers every day to ensure we have the Azimio - One Kenya Alliance from where we will have one leader through due process to ensure the country is united. We will all rally behind that one leader to the ballot,” Jirongo said.

Moi said OKA has agreed that they will work with like-minded people.
“For now you know that we are in One Kenya Alliance. In One Kenya Alliance, we have agreed that we will work with those who are like-minded. People who share the same ideals and values as we do,” Gideon said.
He assured the president that as he is going into retirement Azimio - OKA
“As you go into the sunset of your presidency, do know that with Azimio and One Kenya Alliance Kenya will have a bright dawn ahead,” he assured.
Ngilu on her part lauded Uhuru’s efforts in bringing the political leaders together. She noted that wherever there is no peace the people who bear the burden are women and children.
“Your Excellency where there is no peace the person who bear the brand of terrible conflicts is mother and child and we pray that this will never happen again in this country. Your Excellency you humbled yourself and came down and said you will shake hands with your opponents to bring peace in Kenya and you did exactly that, thank you so much,” Ngilu said.

“His Excellency you had a dream and you believed in your dream and decided on behalf of Kenyans as a leader of this country to invite our leaders who would have been on opposing sides to one government. That is no longer a dream but an assurance. Congratulations and we are together and we will continue working together,” Roba said.
PAA leader Kingi also lauded Uhuru and Raila for bringing peace in the country by the single act of the handshake. He said the two ought to be recognized for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Kindly join me in celebrating one act that was done by two great sons of this country and that is Raila Amolo Odinga and His Excellency the President. This act, were it not for that one act, we wouldn't be sitted here today. It happened on the 9th of March 2018. I have been searching what qualities an act needs to meet to win a Nobel prize, and that act fits every aspect. And I don’t know why Raila Odinga and Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta have not been awarded that international peace Nobel prize. We celebrate them and we love them,” Kingi said.
He urged the Azimio - OKA leaders to hasten the process of choosing their presidential candidate and assured Uhuru of all the parties’ support.
Kingi said should the outfit fail to emerge as the winner in the August general elections the consequences will be dire.
“If this formation does not sit in State House all these will go to waste. We will be exposed, we will be slaughtered and you know who will slaughter us, and he will star with you,” Kingi cautioned.
Wamunyinyi assured the OKA team that their decision to join Azimio was the best one and urged to work together in ensuring Raila succeeds Uhuru.
Kenya Union Party’s Lonyangapuo said the direction Uhuru is taking the country is the direction everyone is safe for posterity.
Wiper party Kalonzo thanked Jubilee for endorsing the three-pillar formation called Azimio - OKA alliance and OKA is committed to ensuring Kenya is united.
He said they cannot afford to lose the election and assured the crowd that they were together on the journey.
“We are guided by guided only by what is important for this nation. We cannot afford to lose this election… we can’t,” Kalonzo declared.
He promised OKA's commitment to the journey and said they will hold discussions as they build the coalition.
“I give you my promise and that one of OKA that we are together on this journey but we will negotiate structure, dialogue, honest conversation correcting even historical imbalances because building a coalition is not easy.”
Raila on his part revealed why Azimio La Umoja was initiated. He lauded President Uhuru for working with a government that was partly sabotaging his efforts.
“I want to thank my brother Uhuru Kenyatta for standing firm as he was working with a government that had wrangles. Part of the government is working and the other half of the government is sabotaging the work of the government,” Raila said.
Raila assured Uhuru that the next government will pick up from where he left and continue with his legacy.
“We have said whatever will happen, there will be change and continuation in the government that should be coming in,” he said.
Raila said he was happy they were coming together with other leaders to walk the journey together and reiterated nothing can overcome them if they stood together.
“I am happy we are getting back together. We will walk together. I am sure if we stand together nothing can overcome us,” Raila asserted.
