Deputy President William Ruto’s blogger Dennis Itumbi has declined to record a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following his kidnap allegations in December 2022.

Itumbi claimed that it would amount to wasted efforts as justice would not be served.

He was speaking at an ACK church in Kitharani, Gichungu, Kirinyaga County during a thanksgiving event on Sunday.

Itumbi termed DCI demand for his statement as ridiculous, claiming they have the ploy to cover up the atrocity he alleges the state had meted on him.

He challenged the DCI to investigate itself instead of demanding a statement from him.

“DCI, why are you demanding a statement from me? You should investigate yourself because as far as this case is concerned you are the criminal! Therefore, you should investigate yourself,” Itumbi said.

Itumbi said he would mobilise some youth to accompany him to the DCI's office to present video evidence of the alleged kidnap.

“I will not sit with you but will just present the video evidence to you which I will leave to you to do whatever you want with it. I know you will do nothing about it anyway, but as a law-abiding citizen I will present the evidence that is in my possession,” Itumbi said.

The digital media strategist also took a swipe at DCI boss George Kinoti and Inspector General of Police Hilary Mutyambai and accused them of being used by the state to settle scores.
