Police are investigating a bizarre incident in which one of their colleagues took a gun and shot his girlfriend, a neighbour then turned it on himself in a case of murder suicide.

The cop identified as Corporal Mark Mulanda is said to have reported for duty at Langata Police Station on Sunday night but excused himself to pick something from his house at the nearby Mugumoini Chief's Camp.

It was while there that he took his gun and shot his neighbour Fiona Chepkoech, 37, then proceeded to his house and shot his 28-year-old lover Rhoda Chepchumba seven times.

After shooting the two women and leaving them dead, Mulanda used his AK47 rifle to take his own life in an incident that has left his neighbours and colleagues with many questions.

On rushing to the scene, police officers from Lang’ata Police Station and Mulanda’s neigbours were only met by the gory bloody scenes and the three lifeless bodies.

Police later ferried the bodies to Chiromo and City mortuaries even as the dead officer’s firearm was found with 20 rounds of ammunition at the spot where he had taken his life.
