The Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji has directed that expeditious and comprehensive investigation be conducted on utterances made by Meru County Senator Mithika Linturi on Saturday in Eldoret, pursuant to Article 157 (4) of the Constitution.
The DPP addressed the letter to the Inspector-General of the National Police Service Hilary Mutyambai on Saturday.
Haji said his attention was drawn to the video clip that went viral on social media platforms, which shows Linturi making utterances that could incite negative feelings.
“My attention has been drawn to a video clip circulating on social media platforms portraying Mithika Linturi allegedly addressing a crowd and stating that " watu wa Uasin Gishu musicheze na Kenya, na kile nawaomba ni kwamba madoa madoa yale mulionayo hapa muweze kuondoa - ." which utterances could incite feelings of contempt, hatred, hostility, violence or discrimination,” the DPP wrote.
The DPP asked the IG to submit the resultant investigation report by January 14, 2022.
