Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) has officially called off the planned strike by medical practitioners that was slated to start on Monday.
KMPDU Acting Secretary General Chibanzi Mwachonda said the strike has been suspended for 14 days to allow for talks with the Senate and National Assembly Committees on Health.
However, Mwachonda was quick to warn doctors across the country against working if they are not provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs).
He told medics handling Covid-19 patients in health facilities across the country not to endanger their lives in the line of duty.
The KMPDU official also clarified that should their grievances not be resolved after the 14-day, grace period elapses the medics will down their tolls from December 21.
