ODM leader Raila Odinga took a brief ride on the Kisumu Safari Train on Wednesday.

Raila boarded the train from Fort Ternan Railway Station to the new Kisumu Station.

The Kenya Railways Managing Director Philip Mainga and other officials from the company received the former Prime Minister to the station.

“The Right Honourable Former Prime Minister of Kenya and Minister for Infrastructure Development in the AU Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga honoured us today by being Right On Track aboard the Kisumu Safari Train which he boarded at Fort Ternan Railway Station in Kericho County where he was received by Kenya Railways Managing Director Mr. Philip J. Mainga and other KR officials,” KR tweeted.

The former Prime Minister took the ride together with his grandchild.

Raila described the feeling of riding in the train as nostalgic and he loved the ride. He said that for him, the holiday season is all about spending time with family.

“Nothing beats a nostalgic train ride than sharing it with one of my grandkids. The holiday season for me is all about spending time with family,” Raila said. 

“I loved the short train ride into Kisumu this afternoon."

On reaching Kisumu, Raila was treated to a warm reception by Kisumu residents who were elated to see him.

They braved the rains that were pouring to give their leader the hero's welcome.

Raila appreciated the enthusiasm of Kisumu residents and thanked them for coming out to welcome him.

"You gotta love the energy and enthusiasm of the people of Kisumu who braved a downpour to welcome us and say, Jambo," Raila tweeted.

"Ero Kamano Uru! (Thank You)
