A nairobi court has dropped charges against Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owinoin a case in which he had been charged with the attempted murder of DJ Evolve.

This is after the court sitting in Nairobi allowed an application by DJ Evolve, real name Felix Orina, to withdraw the case.

Owino, however, will now be prosecuted in the second count of behaving disorderly while carrying a firearm.

The ODM MP had tried many times to settle the matter out of court after he was charged with attempted murder for shooting at Orina in a club in Kilimani area of Nairobi back in 2018.

The once high-flying DJ’s family lawyer informed the court that they were in the final stages of negotiations with the lawmaker and that they would soon present relevant documents.

The prosecution confirmed before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi that, in deed talks were ongoing between the two sides led by their lawyers and that two meetings had been held.

The news has been received with varied reactions by a cross-section of Kenyans, with some supporting the decision by the DJ while others lambasted Owino for his handling of the matter.
