A group of Luo elders have endorsed the Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga to vie for the gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general election, a ceremony that was held at Ligisa Secondary School in Rangwe Constituency.
Led by Chairman Odul Kabaraka, the elders said they have assessed Wanga and made their conclusions that she has the qualities to become the next governor.
The event is said to have been attended by over 30 MCAs, business people and local residents from the County.
Making his remarks, Kabaraka said that it is time for people to believe that women can offer good leadership.
"We have assessed her and learnt she has the requisite credentials to lead this county in the office of governor. What we are doing here today should also help our society address male chauvinism that has seen men prejudice women for many years, preventing them from realizing their full potentials," he said.

Speaking shortly after the ceremony, the outspoken politician said she will prioritize healthcare by equipping health facilities and stocking them with drugs.
"Healthcare becomes too expensive when residents are forced to buy medicines in private chemists. I will seal loopholes which have been led to this," she said.
Wanga now joins a growing list of women who are intending to vie for senior elective posts in next year's general election.
