The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is holding a consultative forum with the Political Parties Liaison Committee on 2022 general election preparedness, nomination rules and proposed electoral legal reforms.

The Commission's Chair, Wafula Chebukati said preparedness demands concerted efforts by all political parties, government institutions, civil society and citizens to play their roles.

To date, a total of 82 political parties have resubmitted revised nomination rules and IEBC has completed the second review of their nomination rules.

Only 72 were found to be compliant and will be issued with a compliance certificate as guided by the provisions of section 27 of the Elections Act.

The Commission will contact the 10 political parties that did not comply with the nomination rules to advise on the way forward.

Chebukati has promised Kenyans that the Commission will deliver free, fair and credible polls.
