Six people have been confirmed dead and two others are in critical condition after a police officer went on a killing spree early Monday morning in Kabete, Kiambu County.

Police Constable Benson Imbasi, is said to have killed his wife first before turning the gun on himself.

Kabete police officers rushed to the scene where the lifeless body of a woman only identified as Carol was found.

The police officer identified as Cheruiyot, together with her colleagues rushed the two injured boda boda riders to Eagle hospital in Kangemi, where they received first aid, before they were transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital for specialized treatment.

The firearm used by the officer to commit the act has been recovered, loaded with four rounds of ammunition. 

Demonstrations have been held at Kabete, Mountain view area following the killing of six people by the police officer.

The irate protesters have questioned the killing of five locals by a Kabete-based police officer on a shooting spree.

Police officers have arrived at Waiyaki way heading towards Kabete police station to disperse protesters blocking the road. 

Investigations into the sad incident have since been launched.
