A man lost his life in Kipchumwa, Marakwet East last week following an argument between siblings who happened to be his neighbours.

The brothers were in a heated argument over a family debt of a cow.

Joel Kiptum Kopkore and Onesmus Kemboi Kipkore's argument escalated to an ugly fight that saw Onesmus pick his bow and arrow and aim at Joel.

Onesmus shot the arrow at his brother, unfortunately missing his target and landing on the deceased Edwin Kobor’s left leg.

Kibor was just a concerned neighbour who had come to separate the feuding brothers.

Kibor was quickly rushed to Endo Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injury, though it is yet to be clear whether he died from excessive loss of blood or arrow poison.

After the sad incident, irate residents of that village torched 12 houses and granaries that belonged to the suspect’s kin.

Elders from the Marakwet community gathered and mediated peace that brought an end to the wanton destruction of property.

Police launched a manhunt for the assailant who fled for his life into a nearby forest.
