US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has allocated Kenya a Level 4 alert, the highest risk assessment level for Coronavirus for any country.
The alert in essence warns American nationals against travelling to Kenya altogether as they face are very high chance of contracting Covid-19.
“Travelers should avoid all travel to Kenya. Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19,” said CDC in a statement.
CDC told its citizens planning to travel to Kenya to undergo a viral test one to three days prior to their travel.
“Do not travel if you are waiting for test results, test positive, or are sick,” adds CDC.

The center also sensationally told US travelers to wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet from people who are not traveling with them, wash their hands often or use hand sanitiser and watch their health for signs of illness.
Americans travelers were also told to get a Covid-19 test on landing back in the US and self-quarantine for 10 days.
“If you don’t get tested, it’s safest to stay home for 10 days. If you had a known exposure to COVID-19 while traveling, delay travel, quarantine from other people, get tested, and monitor your health,” added CDC.
The irony is that the alert comes at a time US itself on Wednesday recorded her highest fatalities due to the virus in a single day with 3,157 deaths confirmed.
It also comes as Johns Hopkins University data revealed that more than 274,000 people in America have died from Covid-19 and 14 million have tested positive.
US health and emergency services have also been stretched to the limit and on the tipping point as the virus shows no sign of subsiding.
Kenya, on the other hand, on Thursday recorded 1,253 new cases of Covid-19 raising total confirmed cases to 86,383 and total fatalities surged to 1,500 after 16 more patients succumbed to the virus.
This comes days after US President-Elect Joe Biden called President Uhuru Kenyatta to thank him for his congratulations on his November 3 election win.
It remains unclear if CDC’s action is some form of retaliation by US against Kenya for siding with Biden, whose win President Donald Trump challenges terming it fraudulent.
