A Nairobi court has issued a gag order restricting the former governor of Nairobi Mike Sonko from releasing further material in his damning exposé "Rot in Judiciary series".

Sonko, who shared the news about the gag on his social media pages on Tuesday, said the court had served him with the orders as he prepared to release more episodes of his exposé.

“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED:… THAT pending hearing interpartes the defendants are hereby restrained from publishing further statements/articles forthwith as regards the Plaintiffs/Applicants,” the court document read.

Sonko says the order was issued by Justice Joseph Sergon, who is among those he implicated in his damning exposé.

“Curiously, high court's Case number E283 of 2021, before Justice Sergon who was also mentioned in the exposee,” he wrote.

The former Nairobi county boss also revealed that the plaintiffs in the case includes his former lawyer Cecil Miller, whom he fell out with during his impeachment case.

“… the plaintiffs are the two beleaguered lawyers who duped me in my criminal case and abandoned me at the height of my impeachment proceedings....” Sonko said.

He undertook to comply with the court gag but vowed to challenge it at the inter-parties hearing.

“As a law abiding citizen, who abides by the rule of law, I stand guided and fully comply to the same order safe that I will challenge the same order at the inter-parties hearing,” he added.

Sonko has been releasing video and audio recordings on social media, implicating judges and lawyers in a web of alleged malpractices prompting lawyers Cecil Miller and George Githii to rush to court to obtain an order barring him from releasing more leaks implicating them.
