National Police Service (NPS) has denied reports circulated by the mainstream media houses in Kenya claiming that Kenya Prisons Service Commissioner-General Wycliffe has been arrested.
NPS, in a message shared on their official social media pages, said police officers were only facilitating Ogalo’s removal from office after he was sacked by the president on Wednesday.
“The reporting appearing in mainstream and social media that the former Kenya Prisons Service’s Commissioner General Wycliffe Ogallo has been arrested by police is not accurate as stated,” NPS said.

It went on, “This is to clarify that police only facilitated a smooth and seamless handover of office and escorted the former Commissioner General to his home.”
Reports of Ogalo's arrest spread in Kenyan mainstream media houses and on social media after a contingent of officers from the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) picked him from his Magereza House office before speading off with him, though he was not handcuffed.
President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday sacked Ogalo following the upsetting escape of three terrorism convicts from Kamiti Maximum Prison and replaced him with Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba.
Uhuru also ordered a probe into the questionable escape of the deadly convicts and suspension of prisons officers found to have been involved in facilitating their jailbreak on Monday.
A press briefing that had been convened by the embattled Ogalo at his house on Langata was called off minutes later as the state mounts pressure to get answers on the prison break.
