Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua could not hide her joy after winning the case she filed at the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) after the Supreme Court dismissed her petition challenging the election of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru in 2017.

Karua, now a Senior Counsel, on Monday evening shared a photograph in which she is smiling broadly at home while cutting a cake to celebrate her crucial victory at the regional court.

EACJ had ruled that she was denied justice at the Supreme court headed by its President, Chief Justice David Maraga and awarded her Sh2.8 million shillings in compensation.

While celebrating her triumph at the EACJ, Karua wrote:

“Capping off a worthwhile effort advocating for electoral justice in defense of our democracy with celebratory cake. Heartfelt gratitude to all who fought alongside us, believing that rights matter and a better Kenya is possible.”

She was represented at the regional court of justice by lawyer and former MP Gitobu Imanyara.
