The National Police Service (NPS) has revealed that Deputy President William Ruto ignored intelligence provided to him concerning looming violence at Kondele in Kisumu County.
In a statement regarding the violence that rocked Kondele on Wednesday, police said they had warned Ruto over the chaos that emanated from cash from his UDA camp meant for “logistics.”
NPS Director of Corporate Communications Bruno Isohi Shioso says the DP’s team was given a prior advisory to skip the area due to the tension building up in Kondele ahead of his campaign.

Shioso says intelligence gathered by the police had indicated that the tension was caused by the alleged distribution of campaign logistical funds amongst local groups that went haywire.
According to the NPS Communications boss, the second in command ignored the key intel that was shared with his team and went ahead to hold the public rally that was marred by chaos.

But NPS confirmed that the DP left the scene unharmed and no injuries were reported or noted but indicated that some vehicles were destroyed, but did not reveal if this includes the DP’s.
In a series of tweets Ruto’s allies led by Ahmednasir Abdulahi, Kipchumba Murkomen, Emmanuel Talam and blogger Dennis Itumbi went on the offensive blaming ODM for the chaos, with some even going further to use old photos to drive the narrative and adding a hashtag.
