A middle-aged man in Siaya county is before the court for allegedly defiling and impregnating his two teenage daughters aged 17 and 14 years respectfully.

The suspect James Odhiambo is said to have committed the act when the minors' mother was away at a funeral, Vihiga county.

While appearing before the court, Odhiambo was also charged for assaulting his two sons aged 10.

The two sons claim to have witnessed one instance when their father raped the two young girls.

According to court papers, Odhiambo sneaked into one room where the young girls were sleeping with their other siblings on June 18, 2021, armed with a panga then defiled one victim.

At the same time, Odhiambo is said to have threatened the boys if they ever revealed it to their mother.

The case was reported at Yala Police station on June 19, 2021.

The minors were taken to the hospital for further medical attention.

Siaya Children's officer Beatrice Oguda told the court the children initially reported the matter to their mother, but she took no action.

Oguda urged the court to also charge their mother for failing to report the case.

Odhiambo will remain in remand as his case is scheduled to be heard on November 17, 2021.
