Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has emphasised the government’s commitment to ensure peace prevails during the electioneering period.

“Our job is to ensure that the people live in peace until the end of the elections,” Matiang’i said.

Matiang’i said anyone is free to conduct their campaign as they wish as long as they abided by the law.

According to Matiang’i, nobody should be troubled by anyone during that period

He urged the security apparatus in the country not to be intimidated at all by idle chatter from a section of politicians.

Matiang’i also reiterated that the work of the government is to maintain peace and security.

“Everyone has the freedom to do their campaigns. Our job is to maintain the peace,” he said.

The CS said that currently, the government’s aim is to have the forthcoming election become the most peaceful election compared to the others.
