Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Philip Arnold Subira Anyolo as the Archbishop of Nairobi.

His appointment was announced on Tuesday.

He succeeds John Njue who resigned as Archbishop of Nairobi on January 4, 2021.

Anyolo is the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu.

He was ordained a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret on October 15, 1983.

On December 6, 1995, Pope John Paul II appointed him as the Bishop of the Diocese of Kericho, where he served until 2003, before moving to Homa Bay to replace Rt. Rev. Linus Okok and stayed until 2018.

Anyolo was appointed Archbishop of Kisumu on November 15, 2018, and was installed on January 12, 2019.
