Kisumu County is set to host a top maritime summit to improve its many investment opportunities in the blue economy following governments to revamp Lake Victoria Port.

The meeting will enhance the lakeside county and its environs economic growth and position Kisumu as a top maritime hub.

Prof. Anyang' Nyong'o and the Shipping and Maritime PS Dr. Nancy Karigithu will lead the expert's engagement under the theme, "Enhancing Maritime Opportunities".

Nyong'o has described the summit as a cornerstone event where experts and leaders from various organizations will share ideas that will see an improvement in the maritime industry.

The event will bring other partners such as Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA), Kenya National Shipping Line Limited (KNSL), and Kisumu Lakefront Development Corporation (KLDC) amongst others.

Top guests expected to attend the event include Dr. Edward Ouko, Chairman KLDC, Juvenal Shiundu, Chairman KNSL, and John Omingo, Director Maritime Trade and Investments at KMA.

The event will be held at the Kisumu Impala Sanctuary on Tuesday, 26th October 2021.
