Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga on Wednesday made a blunder by openly supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum after the report was amended.
Omanga tweeted her change of tune and declared unwavering support for BBI immediately after the launch of collections of signatures at KICC, Nairobi.
A post on the twitter handle of the rebel Jubilee Party legislator read:
"Well, the final #BBIReport is a remarkable improvement. Our proposals on Nairobi are captured; women and people living with disabilities (PWDs) have gained their rightful share. The youth have an enhanced package. I hereby declare my unwavering support and full endorsement of BBI. Fired up! Ready to go!"
But on realizing her mistake, given she’s allied to Deputy President William Ruto who is still opposed to the BBI referendum, she quickly deleted the post that had already gotten traction.

She followed the action with claims that her account had been hacked and that the post did not emanate from her.
Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja also welcomed the amended version of the contentious BBI report which will be taken to the referendum in due course.
"Glad that our views on Nairobi were taken up. The proposal to permanently transfer functions from the county has been reconsidered and revoked in this draft. Other important areas amended," Sakaja tweeted.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga launched the collection of signatures at Kenya International Convention Centre Wednesday morning, in a ceremony skipped by Deputy President William Ruto, who has been opposing the BBI process.
Even with the SIGNATURE launch there is still a real chance at CONSENSUS for a NON-DIVISIVE referendum that will give kenyans the opportunity to EXPRESS themselves without an US vs THEM, WIN vs LOSE contest. UNITY is the STRENGTH needed to fight COVID19 and organise the ECONOMY.
