As the country marks 58th Mashujaa day celebrations in Kirinyaga county today, former National Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech and rugby champion Humphrey Kayange are among the 220 Kenyan heroes and heroines awarded during the celebrations.

Peres Jepchirchir - Won 2016 world half marathon gold medal at Cardiff in London.

Winner of 2017 world record in half marathon at RAK in Dubai 2020; world record holder in half marathon at Prague in the Czech Republic and a gold medalist in Tokyo 2020 women marathon.

Lawrence Cherono - Won 2020 Tokyo Olympic in marathon runner and finished 4th.

Gold Medalist in Chicago Marathon, and he is ranked as 3rd position worldwide in athletics men's marathon.

John Bob Oyugi - Currently, he is involved with the development of Kenyan Youths and Sports developments.

Delilah Asiago - Won the Dubai marathon in 2006.

Linus Wachoka Masheti-  Won 2004 National and prisons wrestling coach and Currently serves as Naivasha prisons wrestling coach.

Participated in the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Canada

He is also a Bronze medalist in the 2003 African Games. 

Joseph Kiprotich Cheromei- Represented Kenya in 1991 in New Delhi 5000m and won a bronze medal. He joined coaching in 2005 and has produced top-class athletes who have excelled on the international stage.

Felix Kipkoech, Gold medalist in the Geneva Berlin half marathon in 2021.

Peter Kalae - President of Kenya sports for the Deaf (Deaflympics); Founder Member of Kenya sports federation for the Deaf in 1990 as well as Founder of Deaf Union football club.

Ruth Chepngetich-  is the Current World Half Marathon champion.

Former Half Marathon record holder 2021; an Olympian in the marathon; 2019 Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon gold medalist.

Humphrey Kayange- Winners (Singapore series, 2016).

Competed in World Rugby Sevens Series (2005-2016).

Chair, Nock Athletes' Commission (4years).

Winnie Adoyo- is a Sports Sign language interpreter. 

Dennis Oliech- represented the country at Africa and World Qualifiers; Played professional football in Qatar and France.
