President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted the nationwide curfew may soon be lifted.
Uhuru said that on Monday afternoon speaking in Karatina while speaking to the area residents.
He was responding to calls by the members of the public who asked him to lift the curfew as it has taken too long and is affecting their normal lives.
Uhuru told Karatina residents that he would look into the matter and he would soon comment about the same.
“In the days to come, we will look at it, I’m working, and very soon, you will hear it, I do not want to speak too early but very soon,” said Uhuru.

It has been about two years since the curfew was imposed as a containment measure against the spread of COVID-19.
However, the president asked members of the public to continue taking care of themselves and follow the MoH stipulated COVID-19 containment protocols.
“You need to also protect yourself from the disease so that when we re-open, there are no more deaths, and you will be free to live as you want,” he said.
The Ministry of Health through its Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the reopening of the country is depended on the progress of the vaccination drive.

Kagwe made an announcement on October 4, 2021, extending the curfew further for another 30 days, citing a spike in COVID-19 positivity rate.
At the moment, only 1,208,987 adults are fully vaccinated while 3,291,192 individuals have only had their first dose, which brings the total number of vaccines administered to 4.500,179.
