Nine bodies of people who were killed in a boat accident in Lake Victoria on Tuesday night have finally been retrieved.
This was announced by Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli who has been leading the search and rescue efforts since the boat tragedy struck near Honge Beach in Siaya County.
According to Kooli, all the ten bodies that had been missing in the four days the rescue operations were being conducted have been recovered.
The bodies were retrieved by a multi- agency team that was formed after a boat carrying about 20 passengers capsized in Lake Victoria.
Elly Masinde, who chairs the area beach management unit, told Citizen TV that the boat turned over after it encountered strong winds.
