Controller of Budget Dr Margaret Nyakang’o and 14 MPs have been nominated to receive honorary awards to be affirmed by the President.

According to the National Honours Act 2013, one qualifies for the awards if they have made an exemplary contribution to the country or county in the Economic, Social, Scientific, Academic, Public administration or other fields or has either brought pride or glory to the country.

Nyakang’o, legislators and two parliamentary staff are approved will be awarded with the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear and Elder of the Order of Burning Spear awards.

The members of the Parliamentary Service Commission selected for the awards are Aaron Cheruiyot(Kericho Senator),Ben Momany(Borabu),Kimani Wamatangi,National Assembly Deputy Minority leader Robert Mbui,Kesses MP Swarup Mishra,Kisumu Senator Fred Outa,Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka and Alice Milgo have been lined up for the CBS award.

Others include house of Justice and Legal Affairs Chairman Muturi Kigano who serves as Kangema MP, Administration and National Security Committee Chairman Peter Mwathi (Limuru), Agriculture Committee Chairman Silas Tiren who is also an MP for Moiben,Mombasa Women Representative Mishi Mboko and Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu.

The Clerks of the National Assembly Jeremiah Ndombi and Serah Kioko are also set to receive an Elder of the Burning Spear award.
