A Nairobi courts as ruled that five accused persons, four police officers and a civilian have a case to answer in slain lawyer Willy Kimani's case.

According to Lady Justice Jessie Lessit's ruling, the prosecution had established a prima facie case against the five.

“I have considered the entire evidence and having done so I have come to the conclusion that the prosecution has established a prima facie case,” Lessit ruled.

The five accused persons will now present their witnesses as they defend themselves before the the final verdict is delivered.

Willy Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri were murdered back in 2016.

Their bodies were discovered decomposing in a river at Oldonyo Sabuk, a week after they were reported missing.

Their two-year case has dragged in court sparking ourtrage within the legal fraternity and causing endless anguish to the bereft families who have been seeking justice.

Chief Justice Martha Koome allowed for Justice Lessit continue hearing the matter even after her ascention to the Appelate Court amid concerns that her movement would further delay the case.
