Elders from the Rumuruti area in Laikipia County have solicited an end to animosity in Rumuruti town against herders.
The long-anticipated meeting was held at Kandutura village next to a farm and saw the elders pass a resolution calling for an end to animus and promised to hand over the culprits to security personal.
Led by spokesperson Paul Pere, noted that the enmity between the two communities was having a negative impact where the herders were not able to sell their livestock at a local bazaar because of rising attacks.
In attendance was Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi who persuaded them to remain calm and vigilant as the government forces traverse peaceful solutions to the conflict.
The elders from the most affected region promised to hold a meeting this weekend with the young men believed to be behind the regular attack.
