Seven individuals have been arrested for illegal diversion and administration of the COVID-19-vaccine.

This comes after the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced it is illegal to sell the COVID-19 vaccine to Kenyan citizens.

Mutahi said that any health institution charging for the COVID-19 vaccine violates the law and he advised the Kenyan public to reuse to pay.

Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache said the seven individuals will be charged in court for their offence since the government is against individuals profiting from the vaccines that should be free.

“There are seven people who have already been arrested they will face the law, we are against vaccine profiteering as vaccines should be free for all,” said Mochache.

Mochache was speaking during the reception of additional doses of AstraZeneca vaccines donated by Canada where she also reiterated that all vaccines are offered for free in the country.

“I want to take this opportunity to reiterate to all of us, that all the vaccines we have in this country are offered free of charge to the citizens,” she emphasized.

Mochache also said the Ministry of Health will collaborate with other security agencies to ensure individuals who are taking advantage of the vaccination process for their selfish gains will also be brought to book.
