Thursday saw the fatalities in Kenya due to the Coronavirus shoot up to 1,072 after 21 more patients succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.
This is according to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, who announced that Kenya’s caseload also rose to 59,595 after 1,008 more people tested positive in the last 24 hours.
The new positive cases of Covid-19 were confirmed from a 6,038 samples collected and tested in the last 24-hour cycle, according to CS Kagwe.
At the same time, the CS said a total of 802 patients recovered from Covid-19 during the same period; 679 in home-based care program, 123 discharged from hospitals.
The total recoveries across the country now stands at 39,193.

This comes only a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced new measures meant to tame the fresh spike in Coronavirus infections and deaths acros the country after he earlier announced the relaxation of measures.
Amog the measures is curfew revision to start from 10pm to 4am daily, restaurants and pubs closing by 9pm and learners and candidates already continuing with classes as the basic education calendar resumes in January 2021.
