The Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has for the first time spoken about the controversial Turkish man and alleged investor Harun Aydin.
Matiang’i brought to light some information that Aydin was a money launderer and what is popularly known as ‘wash wash’ fellow who gained entry into the country illegally.

The CS intimated that the Ugandan authorities alerted the Kenyan authority of Aydin’s suspicious dealing in Uganda.
"He was already flagged by an intelligence organization in a neighbouring country which had drawn our attention to this particular individual," he said.

“In that country, one of the people he was dealing with had been arrested in a third country for trying to bribe a minister and they are involved in a number of other things...,” he added.
Matiang’i also said the contacts including the phone numbers Aydin provided, could not be authenticated as they were not going through.
The CS revealed Aydin was deported to Turkey to be processed at the request of Turkish officials and the two governments were in communication throughout the process.

“The Turkish national was deported on an agreement between our two governments. Our security apparatus were in communication before and during the exercise,” he said.
He emphasizes Kenya has not and will not apologize to the Turkish government as Deputy President William Ruto claims since there was no cause for an apology.
The CS also said under the new law one does not need an introduction by someone to get a work permit and Aydin was not introduced by anyone.

He also revealed that contrary to what the Turkish man claims and a section of political leaders affiliated with Ruto, Aydin did not have investments anywhere despite claiming to be an investor in the energy sector.
Matiang’i was speaking during a briefing of the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security in Mombasa.
Among the issues discussed was the containment of insecurity in hotspot counties, security plans for the general election & the recent deportation of a Turkish national.
