The serene environment in Nairobi’s Runda Estate was disturbed on Monday morning when NSC Auctioneers stormed the home of Kirinyaga Women Representative Purity Ngirici.

The auctioneers, under instructions from Flex Air Charters, had come to seize household items from the leader’s home in relation to a debt the Ngirici owes to Flex Air Charters.

In 2016, between May 8 and August 17, Ngirici hired a chopper from Flex Air Charters at a cost of Sh5.9 million.

She made a payment of Sh2 million, leaving her with a balance of Sh3.9 million to settle.

However, she failed to pay the balance, forcing the aircraft firm to move to court seeking the court to compel Ngirici and her husband to pay the balance.

The court ruled in favour of Flex Air Charters and Ngirici was required to pay the debt. Unfortunately, she did not pay, forcing the aircraft firm to seek the services of auctioneers.

Although they had a police warrant and police, the auctioneers did not take any items they had seized during the operation after Ngirici’s lawyer, Senator Irungu Kang’ata intervened.

According to Timothy Owuor of NCS Auctioneers, Kang’ata promised to drop a cheque at the auctioneer’s office.

Ngirici, who claimed she was unaware of the matter until her home got the visit from the auctioneers said they had taken away all her household items, including a television set worth Sh2 million.

She also termed the seizure as political persecution, citing her close association with embattled Deputy President William Ruto to be the reason for her woes.

“The whole thing is political; these were my enemies at play. The statement I made over the weekend has really touched them,” Ngirici said.
