Police arrested four suspects in Kangari Town, Murang’a County on Sunday with 100Kgs of elephant tusks that are estimated at Sh10 million.
The four suspects identified were identified as Martin Mungai Nginya, 58, Mwambura Kamau, 55, Samuel Njuguna Mwirigi 43 and Peter Macharia Njuguna, 32 were found in possession of 19 pieces of 19 tusks.
The suspects neatly hid the tusks among cabbages in different gunny bags.
The notorious syndicate was ambushed by a multi-agency team; Interpol Usalama 7 that has been hot on the heels of the suspects as they were preparing to perform a transaction.

They had two separate cars that were strategically parked for their illegal activity.
The two vehicles were a Toyota Allion registration number KBT 660T and a Toyota 100 registration KAP 374V.

Suspects are being questioned by the detectives as they cast a net wider to catch the other fish in the illegal trade.
Police are hoping the investigations will lead them to the poachers and targeted market for the tusks.
