The governor for Kirinyaga Anne Waiguru has confirmed that she is not anyone's running mate but will still vie for the Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in the next elections.

Waiguru was addressing the matter of posters circulating on social media of her images juxtaposed with other presidential candidates’ images insinuating that she would be a running mate of a presidential candidate in the next general elections.

She said it is the work of some people who seem to be testing the waters on the ground to elicit people's reaction.

She however noted that it was an honour to be held in such high regard but at the moment she was focused on re-lection as the Governor of Kirinyaga.    

Waiguru said she has not yet sat down with any presidential candidate and discussed the possibility of her becoming a deputy president.

On a lighter note Waiguru said it was not a bad thing for some individuals to ‘test the waters’ because it only showed that they have faith in her to occupy the position of a deputy president and even better, the presidency itself.

She also noted the difference in politics and said it was normal for people to have political differences.

Waiguru also said that there was nothing wrong with anyone declaring their interest any elective post including the presidency because it is their right. 

During her address, Waiguru took a swipe at the Speaker for National Assembly Justine Muturi and said she did not support the criteria he used to appoint himself as the Mount Kenya region spokesperson.

However, he said it was fine for him to change tune and aim at the presidency and it was up to the voters to elect him as their president.
