Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has landed in fresh trouble
after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) rejected his sensational
allegation that there was a plot to eliminate him.
DCI boss George Kinoti termed the Malala’s claims repeated
on the floor of the National Assembly as false, ill-intentioned and meant to
paint the DCI in bad light.
Kinoti is now demanding a public and prominent apology from
the Kakamega senator for the wild allegations made at the height of the
divisions on passage of the Division of Revenue law.

“Failure to offer the apology in the same prominent manner
that he made him them should lead to his arrest and arraignment for giving the
police false information,” Kinoti said while appearing before a joint senate committee
on Wednesday morning.
Malala last week dramatically shed tears on the floor of parliament
as he claimed that a special DCI unit had been formed to kill him over his tough
stance on the formula for revenue sharing.
The lawmaker alleged that five members of the said special squad
had severally met at the DCI headquarters, also twice at Hotel La Mada situated
off the Thika superhighway and elsewhere.
Kinoti told the senate National Security and Justice and Legal
Affairs committees, however, that the officers alleged by Malala cannot be found
in the police database.
The DCI boss said the claims by the senator had demoralized his unit and demanded an apology, saying their investigations had failed to unearth the police officers Malala named.
