In the press release, KWS has said that it has extended the validity of the current reduced conservation fees to December 31, 2021.
KWS has said the extension was informed by challenges the business environment is facing and was done in consultation with the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
KWS reduced the conservation fees in June last year to cushion their visitors from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and also to promote local tourism.
The rates will be reviewed again to the seasonal rates starting January 1, 2022, according to the wildlife service.
This comes as good news to most Kenyans who have lately embraced local tourism as a coping mechanism following adverse effects of Covid-19.
With social distancing and restrictions on gatherings that has seen a number of entertainment joints closed or operating for minimal hours, Kenyans have turned to local tourism for recreation.
