A section of leaders from DP William Ruto’s Rift Valley backyard appears to be spoiling for a fight ahead of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to the region.

The leaders have been decrying abandonment in terms of development projects during Uhuru's second term despite being in the Jubilee Government.

The president's intended visit provoked a salvo from Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who accused him of going MIA on Ruto's base for four  years despite the region ostensibly voting for him four times.

Murkomen said residents of Rift Valley will have many questions for the Head of State on projects and governance during his planned trip to the region to cement his legacy a year before his final term ends.

The Senator said they will host Uhuru but under DP William Ruto even though it remains unclear whether the DP will accompany his boss during the tour.

His counterpart, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, was raising doubt on the President’s trip.

“Really?.... Let's wait and see,” he posted.

The president’s recent visit to Kisumu where he launched various development projects attracted claims of neglect from leaders from Rift Valley, Ukambani and other regions.
