The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) bashed Citizen TV for an investigative piece by Purity Mwambia titled "Guns Galore" that aired on April 18, terming it sensational.
Speaking to journalists at the DCI headquarters in Nairobi, Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti termed the Royal Media Services exposé as inaccurate, highly sensational and a deliberate malicious attempts to tarnish the entire National Police Service.
Kinoti faulted the manner in which the investigative piece was done questioning the professional ethics and conducts of the journalist involved, saying the police were not given a chance to tell their side of the story.
He refuted claims that the guns submitted by RMS bosses belonged to the National Police Service and affirmed that the service could account for every firearm issued to their officers during the period of the investigation.
