National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced on Tuesday that it is hunting down Subaru drivers who were filmed racing in Nairobi and Kiambu in the weekend.
NTSA says in one of the incidences, motorists in souped-up Subarus were captured on camera by a cyclist while racing dangerously in Tigoni, Limuru and almost hit him hard.
One of the Subarus captured was trying to overtake another as more than 5 vehicles raced on the rural road in Kiambu county oblivious of the danger they posed to other road users.

Another video recorded on Sunday along the busy Thika Road captured some city motorists racing as they rushed home to beat the 8pm start of the Covid-19-instigated State curfew.
These ones were also “Subaru boys” and were filmed racing on the Pangani Interchange.
“We are working closely with the police to smoke out the reckless drivers,” said NTSA.
It added, “We hope CCTV cameras mounted at different spots along the Thika Superhighway will help us identify the culprits.”

Last year, NTSA Director General George Njao warned Subaru drivers against speeding following a surge in road crashes and carnage involving notorious drivers of the car brand.
