Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Leader Raila Odinga has been taken ill.

According to reports in local media, Raila fell ill on Tuesday and was rushed to Nairobi Hospital’s VIP section for some tests to be run to establish what the problem was exactly.

The former Prime Minister’s aides told the media in Nairobi that he opted to check into the hospital after complaining he was experiencing fatigue and body aches.

Reports in local media indicated that doctors at Nairobi Hospital advised Raila to go into self-isolation for two weeks after running a few tests but did not reveal what was ailing him.

This comes after Raila concluded his five-day tour of coast region, where he had gone to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) the whole of last week.

Political pundits viewed the coastal tour as a move by the ODM party boss to erase gains made by Deputy President William Ruto after the DP’s ally Feisal Abdalla Bader bagged Msambweni in the recent parliamentary by-election.

It also comes as politicians have been accused of violating Covid-19 measures by holding public rallies and meetings, where majority do not wear masks or observe social distancing.
