A young man from Bungoma County who collapsed during a police recruitment exercise at Webuye Rai Paper Stadium on Monday has died.

Nelson Wafula, 24, who is said to be from Chetambe village in Webuye East Constituency, had fainted during a physical exercise session during the recruitment drive.

Wafula is reported to have fainted after running three laps in the stadium pitch was rushed to Webuye County Hospital for treatment until Wednesday morning when he passed away.

Webuye County Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Simon Kisaka said a further medical investigation was needed to establish what exactly caused his death.

His father Wycliff Wafula and mother Gladys Murumba said their deceased son seemed to have been making good recovery at the hospital and was even talking before he breathed his last.

This comes as another 26-year-old potential police recruit also died during the physical exercise part at Bokoli Primary school in Webuye West constituency in the same Bungoma County.
