Deputy President William Ruto was heckled by a group of youth during one of his many stopovers at Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County on Sunday evening.

Ruto was also shouted down at Engineer town as he addressed residents after attending a church service at Engineer Sports Ground.

The irate youth booed the DP as he addressed them telling him to stop insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta while chanting pro slogans in support of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Ruto, however, braved the heckling by the local youth and boda boda operators and lauded Jubilee government development track record in the county and region.

He also continued to push the story of how he stood by President Kenyatta when they both faces charges at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the 2007 post-election violence.

“I want to remind you that I am the only one who stood with the President when he was an accused in the ICC. Where were these others? Where were Kalonzo Musyoka, Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula?” Ruto posed.


Kenyatta and Ruto were cleared of crimes against humanity charges at the Hague but they used the cases to rally Kenyans to propel them to power in 2013 saying they were being targeted.

The DP said Jubilee government had laid a solid foundation for economic transformation by expanding and modernizing infrastructure and will now invest in projects that create jobs and generate income for the millions of ordinary Kenyans.
