The temperatures within the Council of Legal Education are rising as the board notified all its staff through a letter that it has resolved not to confirm Emmanuel Wambua Kituku as its Secretary/Chief Executive Officer.

In the statement issued on Tuesday through the council’s chairperson Githu Muigai, the disapproval of Kituku takes effect on Thursday.

The board also said it will carry out the recruitment process for the Secretary/Chief Executive.

“The Board has resolved not to confirm Dr. Emmanuel Wambua Kituku for the position of Secretary/Chief Executive Officer at the Council, effective 1st December 2022,” the statement read.

“The Council shall immediately initiate and complete the recruitment process of a Secretary/Chief Executive officer to ensure no vacuum.”

The board has also appointed the current Director, Standards, Licensing, and Compliance Mary Mutugi as the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer albeit in an acting capacity.

“In the meantime, the Board has appointed Ms. Mary M. Mutugi, the current Director, Standards, Licensing, and Compliance, to act as Secretary/Chief Executive Officer until the substantive position is filled,” the statement further read.

“It is the expectation of the Board that the officer shall be accorded all the support needed to run the institution as envisaged by the Board.”

The board assured the staff that all due care and consideration shall be undertaken during the transition period.
