President William Ruto’s nominee for the position of Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has disclosed he is worth about Sh4 billion.

Musalia revealed that on Monday during his vetting by the National Assembly Committee on Appointments.

He was the first person to be vetted by the committee on Monday at 9 am.

Mudavadi was responding to a question by the committee’s chairperson, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula who wanted to know what his financial net worth was.

In response, Mudavadi said he would put his net worth at about Sh4 billion from his investments in shares and properties.

“If I take my investments in shares in some companies and also the properties that I own, I’d put my net worth at about 4 billion shillings,” Mudavadi said.


The ghosts of the Goldenberg scandal also came up during the former Minister for Finance’s vetting and he sought to clear the air on his alleged involvement in the scandal through with millions of Kenyans’ money was lost.

Mudavadi said he was the one who dismantled the Goldenberg network.

“At the age of 33, I was appointed to the Ministry of Finance in 1993. That is when the Goldenberg saga had been in existence and was coming to its full-blown situation,” Mudavadi said.

“I took up the role of dismantling the network of the Goldenberg hydra. There were so many issues to this and subsequently there was a commission of judicial enquiry under President Mwai Kibaki.”
