Kenya Air Force (KAF) Training Wing Commandant Colonel Flavian Mwangi Waweru is dead, police and KDF have confirmed.

Waweru was discovered dead in his vehicle on Monday night near the Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, along Juja Road, Nairobi.

According to sources, curious passers-by alerted military officers on duty at the Moi Air Base gate after noticing his vehicle was parked for hours near the gate.

The colonel reportedly left the camp at around 4 pm, heading for the CBD.

The officers who responded to the alert found Waweru unresponsive and initiated his transfer to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His body was later moved to the mortuary, pending an autopsy to find out the cause of his death.

A probe into his death has been launched, and a preliminary report is expected to be out soon.

His death comes barely a week after presiding over the closing ceremony of the Kenya Air Force New Soldiers Sports Talent Search Championship 2022 held from 22nd to 23rd September 2022 at the Sina Makosa Stadium, Moi Air Base in Nairobi.


Waweru congratulated all the participants for making the championship captivating.

He also encouraged the troops to continue working towards continually improving their fitness levels and talents.
