Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has confirmed he was not in the aeroplane that had a mishap in Turkana.


An aeroplane carrying leaders affiliated with the Azimio coalition had a mishap in Turkana.

The incident happened on Wednesday when an aeroplane was taking off from the Kakuma Airstrip.

According to sources, the aircraft developed a mechanical issue after one of its tyres bursts, causing the plane to veer off the runway.

Reports have confirmed that nobody was injured during the accident and the Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has confirmed he was not in the aircraft.

Raila took to his Twitter account to assure his supporters that he was not in the aircraft and members of his entourage were safe and sound.


"We thank God the Almighty that nobody was injured in an aircraft that was carrying members of our team that had a mishap at the Kakuma Airstrip," Raila said.

"I wasn't onboard the said aircraft myself. Let us continue praying for the safety of all leaders as we continue with the campaigns."

Raila and his entourage were on a campaign trail in the region on Wednesday.
