Isinya OCPD Ancient Kaloki confirmed the incident and visited the scene of the incident from where he also confirmed that two people were confirmed dead.

“It is officially confirmed that two people, both men, died this morning after a building under construction in the EPZ area collapsed,” Kaloki said.

According to an account by a witness who was around the scene, he was alarmed by creams from assumably from the construction workers who were at the site before a rumbling sound of a crumbling building went through the air.

"I heard a scream followed by a heavy thud. In a moment, the whole area was enveloped by heavy dust then it went silent," the witness said.

A section of the 3-story building caved in, trapping some workers who could not escape under the rubble.

Area residents blamed the contractor for using substandard materials on the building. They also apportioned the blame to the Kajiado County government for approving unapproved buildings in the area.

The locals also blamed the owner of the building that caved in for his greed and being insensitive.
