Hellen Obado has said she will vote for Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga in the August election.

Helen is the wife of Migori Governor Okoth Obado who apparently is campaigning for Raila’s major rival, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto.

Mrs Obado who is running for the Migori Woman Representative seat on an independent ticket affirmed her support for Raila while addressing the media on Thursday after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared her to run in the August election

“I will vote for Raila Odinga as president,” Hellen said.

However, Hellen said even though she backs Raila, she will focus more of her energies on her Woman Representative bid and not on Raila’s presidential campaigns.

“The fact that I am an independent candidate, I will focus most of my energy on my woman rep bid,” Helen said.

Hellen who has recently dropped her husband's name, and no longer introduces herself as such urged the people of Migori to look at her candidature as an individual as opposed to attaching her bid to her husband.

“I’m also urging the voters to scrutinise my candidature as Hellen Adhiambo, and not Governor Okoth Obado’s spouse,” she said.

Ruto named Obado as his point man in Migori and the greater Nyanza region.
