The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has launched an investigation into the incident in which three police officers attacked a motorist at Barnabas area in Nakuru County.

IPOA announced on Saturday as it confirmed that the journalist, KBC cameraman Simon Ben, had already recorded a statement with the police in Nakuru following the undated incident.

“IPOA, on its own motion has this afternoon launched investigations into assault and injury of the two people,” IPOA chairperson Ann Makori said in a statement.

Makori assured that action would be taken against the said officers if they are found culpable.

"In the course of the investigations, if culpability is found, or further misconduct established, the authority will make appropriate recommendations against the police officers to the Director of Public Prosecutions, the National Police Service, the National Police Service Commission or any other State Agency,” she added.

A policer was involved in an altercation with a cop he acccused of damaging his vehicle with his swagger stick and manhandled him but as things got uglier two other police officers joined in a beat up the visibly irked motorist, an incident recorded by the journalist.
