After scathing attacks issues in recent public meetings, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has now made a U-turn and joined Deputy President William Ruto's Kenya Kwanza alliance.
Muturi officially joined the alliance after signing an agreement between his Democratic Party and other Kenya Kwanza leaders at Hermosa Hotel in Karen, Nairobi on Saturday.
According to Ruto, the signing of the deal with Muturi’s DP party follows lengthy talks that have been ongoing for the past few weeks.
Ruto expressed his pride in Kenya Kwanza’s latest signing and and lauded DP as a party that has a footprint in the transformation of the country under former president Mwai Kibaki.
"I am a proud Kenyan that we are today joined by a party that has a history in the Republic of Kenya. A party that has had a footprint in the transformation journey of the country having been led at one time by former President Mwai Kibaki," Ruto said.

Muturi later said on his Twitter account that the country can achieve much with teamwork with people who have a common goal.
“Alone we can do so little, but together we can do so much. Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. Kenya is bigger than all of us,” Muturi tweeted.
This comes weeks after he publicly declared that he would not join hands with any of the other presidential aspirants ahead of the August general election saying felt that none of them was addressing the needs of Kenyans.
He argued that it would be a disservice to Kenyans if he joined either Ruto or Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and insisted that he would also be on the ballot come August 9.
Other Kenya Kwanza leaders who were present during the ceremony include Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Kithure Kindiki, among others.
