Police in Uasin Gishu have revealed the identities of 14 people who were arrested on Friday following the brazen attack on Raila Odinga and his entourage in Uasin Gishu County.

A report filed by officers from Soy Police Station shows police arrested the 14 suspects in a raid conducted at Kabenes and Kabobo areas late Friday night and early Saturday morning.


According to police, the youth arrested will be interrogated to gather more information on the attack while their mobile phones were confiscated for analysis as operations continue.

Here are the names of the 14 suspects:

1. Rodgers Kiplimo (age 38).

2. Justin Kipkorir Muge (aged 30).

3. Kenneth Kipkogei Sawe (age 30) - found with Sh1,250 in 50-shilling notes

4. William Samal Erupe (age 41)

5. Cleophas Cheboi (age 35)

6. Eliud Kimeli Keiyo (age 27)

7. Elias Kiplagat (age 22)

8. Abednego Kemboi (age 32) - Soi MCA Talam’s brother; found with Sh5,400 and Sh1,600 was in 50-shilling notes.

9. Elvis Kipkoech (age 25)

10. Moses Mbadi (age 22)

11. Sammy Keter (age 30)

12. Edwin Cheruiyot (age 24)

13. Peris Maiyo Keiyo (age 28)

14. Elvas Kipchumba (age 21)

A statement was also recorded from Retired Col. Paul Ndenge, pilot of the chopper that was forced to come back down fast to save Raila’s life after irate youth hurled stones at it smashing its windscreen.


Raila and his entourage came under a barrage of stones on Friday after attending the burial of businessman Jackson Kibor at Kabenes in Deputy President William Ruto’s backyard.
